How to get to Exeter
Flight Options

Exeter is located in the southwest of the UK and there are several options to fly to:
  • Exeter has its own airport (EXT) but unfortunately, after the pandemic, it is not well served. But there are flights from many other cities around the UK such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, as well as locations outside the UK such as Dublin, Ireland and Málaga, Spain. The companies flying to Exeter include British Airways, Ryanair, Air Lingus, and others. Check the map of connections.
  • The next best option is to fly to Bristol Airport (BRS) which is 69 miles (111 kilometres) from Exeter. From the airport, you can link to Exeter via bus to the city centre or via train (see below) for more information. Many airlines connect to Bristol including easyJet, Ryanair, BMI Regional, TUI, Flybe, Air Malta and British Airways. Despite being a small airport, it's very well-connected. Check out this map of connections.
  • The southwest also has a small airport in Newquay, which is 80 miles (128 kilometres) from Exeter. This airport has connections to Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Portugal and Spain. See map of connections. Getting from Newquay to Exeter is possible via car, bus or train (see below).
  • Being in the southwest of England, one can also connect to Exeter flying to Cardiff in Wales (123 miles). Bristol (above) is much better connected but, there are options to Cardiff from Montenegro, Spain, Portugal, France, and others. See the map of connections here. From Cardiff, you would have to get to Exeter by car or train (see below).
  • However, most people will probably fly to London, which is served by several airports, including the two main ones of Gatwick and Heathrow. If one is driving to Exeter, Heathrow is more convenient because it is quite close to the M4 (motorway) which links to Bristol and then Exeter via M5. One can get to London with direct flights from almost every country in the world. From London Airports, it would be about a 2.5 hours on a train to Exeter (see below)
